San Diego Weather
San Diego is famous for its mild weather. In the summer, a light breeze from the Pacific Ocean cools the temperatures. The average high temperature in the summer is 76°F and lows are 66°F. Winters are very mild with average daytime highs of 66°F and lows of 49°F.
November through February is the rainy season. Winter storms can often bring a months worth of rainfall in a single day. It is common to see the locals wearing jackets while visitors from around the country think it's warm. After the rain, however, the skies and air become very clear and crisp.
March and April are sometimes extensions of the winter rainy season, but usually these months are considerably drier. Spring always brings beautifully blossomed flowers and trees, and temperatures are often perfect.
May and part of June have clear skies more than half of the time, and there is little chance of rain. It might be ideal to wear a lightweight jacket or long sleeves, but usually t-shirts and shorts are appropriate.
June, July, and August are the warm days, with highs usually between 75°F and 80°F during the day. These months have little chance of rain, but sometimes a little evening fog can roll in and suddenly drop the temperature. The UV index (Ultra Violet) is at its high point during the summer, so be prepared for a little sunburn.
September and October are just beautiful in San Diego. The temperatures are perfect and there are plenty of clear days, little chance of rain, and little fog.
